General Information

The Contractual Agreement needs to be signed by both the parent/legal guardian and counter signed by the Principal. 


International Student Welfare
The Administration Manager, ESOL teacher and Principal are responsible for the support and pastoral care of International Students at Owairaka District School. This includes an International Student’s Orientation, overview of programme adaptation and assistance for those students having difficulty adapting to a new cultural environment. 

The school follows the Children Youth and Family Services child abuse reporting protocols and the Education Rules 1999 in regard to stand-down, suspensions, exclusions and expulsions.


The school follows all procedures for International Students as are followed for regular students, this includes the use of a Truancy Officer and the Non-Enrolment Truancy Service (NETS).  Poor attendance and truancy may lead to the termination of the contract.


Grievances And Complaints Procedures
The procedures outline action for a parent or student to take if there are concerns regarding school programmes, staff or policies.  Before the termination of a contract, all internal school complaints/grievance procedures will be exhausted.  International students can also initiate external grievance procedures under the code if their grievance is not settled internally.
