Student Support
Ōwairaka District School has a comprehensive approach to student support. We recognise the importance of identifying and responding to the ever-changing needs of our children in a timely manner. We work hard to provide the appropriate support for children and are committed to ongoing professional development for our teachers and teacher aides.
We have many supports in the school that help our children reach their potential. Children’s learning, both inside and outside of the classroom, is supported by specialist teachers, teacher aides and volunteers.
Some of our children have English as their second or third language. We have a specialist teacher who helps these children learn English and settle into our school.
Gifted & Talented Learners
Ōwairaka District School provides a range of learning opportunities in response to the needs and strengths of our students.
As with all learners, there is a coordinated school-wide approach to the identification, monitoring and assessment of gifted and talented learners at Ōwairaka District School.
We recognise that gifted and talented attributes may be found in academic, cultural, creative, leadership and sporting fields.
We provide children with opportunities to develop their potential through challenging and stimulating learning experiences within and beyond the classroom.
We encourage families to come and talk to us about their child/ren. Please get in touch by phoning the office (09) 846 5091 or by email: reception@owairaka.school.nz
