The Board is made up of parent representatives, a staff representative and the school principal. The role of the Board is governance, with a focus on the school’s vision and goals. The Board sets the strategic direction for the school with the main focus being on student achievement.
The Board has several meetings during the year which are open to the community. Meeting dates are advertised on the calendar on this website and in the newsletter. If you are keen to hear more about what goes on in school you are most welcome.

Friends of the School
Ōwairaka’s Friends of the School group organises events that bring the community together to raise money to fund additional learning experiences and resources for Ōwairaka students.
FOS raises funds in a number of ways, including sausage sizzles, Culture & Kai Night, auctions and quiz nights and the stall at the Cultural Festival.
Registered Charity
FOS is a Registered Charity, with a charitable purpose to disburse (within the school) funds raised for items such as:
funding buses for school trips
purchasing school-held uniforms for our various cultural performance groups
school camp every second year.
Join FOS!
FOS meets around twice a term in the school staff room. Meeting dates are advertised on Hero and in the newsletter.
